Biography

Stephanie Bertels joined SFU Business in 2008 from the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where she spent two years on a post-doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

She holds a PhD in strategy and global management and sustainable development from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. Prior to earning her PhD, Stephanie worked in industry as an environmental engineer.

An Assistant Professor in Technology and Operations Management at SFU Surrey, Stephanie’s research interests include innovations related to sustainability, institutional change, inter-organizational collaboration, and resilience and reliability. Her current research bridges organization theory and the issues surrounding sustainable development to explore how organizations can develop and implement innovative strategies for a more sustainable future.

Stephanie currently teaches Sustainable Innovation and Business, Society and Ethics.
