The CCGRM, in association with the University of Toronto’s Capital Markets Institute, conducted a comparative study of the reporting and corporate governance practices of all the firms listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the TSX Venture Exchange in 2004. This was the final year that firms on the Venture exchange were not bound to meet the same reporting standards as those listed on the TSX. The purpose of this analysis is to gain insight into firms’ governance and reporting practices when free to choose whether or not to uphold the more stringent reporting standards of the TSX.
