The UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment: Addressing investment risks in the 21st century.
Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business, the Shareholder Association for Research and Education (SHARE), and the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) warmly invite you to our speaker event on February 28, 2013 featuring keynote Dr. Wolfgang Engshuber, Chair of PRI. This will be followed by panel presentations and discussion with the audience on the role of responsible investment in comprehensive risk management and building healthy, sustainable capital markets. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
The event will bring together a wide range of professionals, from investment fund decision makers to academics. This is an excellent opportunity to meet, collaborate and learn from your peers.
The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Initiative, is a partnership between the United Nations and global investors with the goal of promoting and main streaming responsible investment practice. Launched in 2006 by UNEP Finance Initiative and the UN Global Compact, the PRI Initiative has become the leading network for investors to learn and collaborate to fulfill their commitments to responsible ownership and long-term, sustainable returns. Pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth and development funds, investment managers, service providers and other supporters make up the PRI network. Presently, there are over 1000 signatories worldwide with assets of $32 trillion.
Dr. Wolfgang Engshuber was elected chair of PRIAC as well as PRIA in January 2011. He is an ex officio Board member of the UN Global Compact. After a career spanning 25 years, he retired formally from his executive position at Munich Re in October 2011, although he continues as a senior advisor. As President, Corporate Centres, Munich Re America for 13 years, he oversaw key corporate departments, including Investments, Integrated Risk Management, Human Resources, IT, Claims, Legal, Internal Audit and Marketing. Dr. Engshuber served as a director of MEAG New York, a company that manages North American assets of Munich Re. Before moving to the United States in October 1998, he was employed by Munich Re where he was a member of the executive management responsible for global asset management.
